9:00 – 9:40 Interactive ways to conserve rainwater and manage rainwater.

Contemporary cities struggle with problems of extremely high runoff and low water retention in their areas. This disrupts water management and reduces the ability of cities to adapt to climate changes, particularly frequent droughts. However, not in all urban areas it is possible to implement standard system solutions to improve this situation and allow more water to be held within city limits. The lecture will present innovative methods of obtaining, collecting and using rainwater for example for LAX studio projects.

The LAX Architectural Experience Lab is a design studio that deals with architecture, urban planning, urban sculpture, and the design of interactive environments. Her professional activities also include research and design consultancy.

Studio LAX was founded by two architects from Wroclaw: Anna Grajper and Sebastian Dobiesz. In its achievements, LAX has received numerous awards and honors for projects related to architecture, urban planning and public spaces in Poland and abroad.

As part of the scientific research and consultancy conducted at LAX, the architects from the studio specialize in implementing new interactive technologies in architectural and urban tissues.

The founders of the studio emphasize that when creating their projects, it is very important for them to contribute to making a real place in the city. They want them to leave a clear imprint on the mental map of the city among its residents and all its visitors. That is why it is important for them to evoke emotions in the recipients, which they try to do by giving their achievements a magical character. Hence their motto is to create magic in architecture.

9:40 – 10:20 Innovative and environmentally friendly geotechnical solutions used in green and blue infrastructure construction projects.

Pietrucha Group shares your expertise in geotechnical solutions used in hydro-structural construction projects, whose mission is to retain water, slow run-off and prevent fluctuations in groundwater levels. It will display complete solutions and original ideas for the construction of retaining tanks, rain gardens, water sills and storage gates. It will also provide a demonstration of biogeocomposites that easily enable permanent, efficient and rapid greening of slopes, bridges and other sloping surfaces.

The Director will present provisions for planning documents in the context of rainwater and snowmelt management, and will also discuss Polish water activities in the field of increased retention, including on the topic of flower meadows.

11:45 – 12:25 Blue Infrastructure as a way to manage rainwater in a safe and environmentally friendly manner.

Creating an efficient blue infrastructure is a major challenge for designers, contractors, and investors. The presentation will cover issues such as design conditions for blue housing infrastructure facilities that enable pretreatment, retention and infiltration of rainwater, types of retention facilities, selected technical and natural solutions and examples of implementation.

Landscape Architect, Research and Teaching Assistant at the Institute of Environmental Engineering at Warsaw University of Life Sciences, whose scientific interests include the impact of land development on nature’s water circulation and quality, the use of spatial information systems, and soil susceptibility to water erosion. He conducts research on the circulation of water in nature at various levels: from the wettability of individual plant leaves, through erosion phenomena in laboratory experiments, to the hydrological effects of deforestation in mountainous regions. Author or co-author of over 25 scholarly articles and dozens of expert opinions and projects.

12:25 – 13:05 Threatening the process of urbanization in family allotment parks as an element of the green infrastructure of cities in Poland.

Researcher and educator at the University of Life Sciences in Poznan. Main scientific interests include issues of protection and assessment of flowing water ecosystems, wetlands, peat bogs and floodplains, water management, flooding, as well as climate problems in Wielkopolska recently in terms of its strides. Co-author and author of numerous scientific publications, including numerous monographs, as well as expert opinions and studies for practice. Classes conduct, among others in the field of sustainable development, environmental regulation and management, legal foundations for the formation of the environment and the investment process, environmental impact assessment and valuation. Particularly, he is interested in travel, contemporary social and economic development of countries around the world in terms of environmental protection, economics, historical cartography, as well as mainly the culture and history of the East-Middle East.

13:05 – 13:45 Local Stormwater Management – Retention and use of rainwater in the city.

Due to the increasing demand for water use, caused by droughts or storms, the use of rainwater is becoming more and more popular. It is a challenge for cities and municipalities, as well as for every family. It is necessary to develop rainwater systems and build additional holding tanks or local capture solutions. Stored water is a natural source of soft water, which is ideally suited for municipal purposes in cities or for irrigation of green spaces. During the presentation, we will present our proprietary solutions and innovative approach to the issue of retention as well as the use and management of rainwater.

Graduated from Gdansk University of Technology, Faculty of Engineering and Environment. An engineer with nearly 20 years of experience in the water and wastewater industry. Since the beginning of his professional activity, he has been associated with the Ecol-Unicon company, and is currently the Technical Director. Project manager to build the first stand in Poland to test the effectiveness of oil separators and certify the separators for compliance with the PN-EN 858 standard. Project manager for the certification of Ecol-Unicon pumping systems, confirmed compliance with PN-EN 1205-1 and obtained CE certification for ETS / ESS compressor station type series and station EPS infusion. Bumerang Smart Project Manager – A system for monitoring and managing wad-kan devices with a dedicated module for managing dispersed retention along with weather forecasts.
