Virtual Payment Cards in Chrome and Android
One of the announcements of new solutions aimed at improving the security of users of Google services are virtual payment cards that can be used in the Chrome browser and in the Android system. The new functionality will be available later this year.
How it works? By specifying the real number of our payment card created by default, which is stored in the browser instead of the real one and does not pose a threat to us in the event of a cyber attack. Virtual card numbers can be easily identified by the payment systems used in popular stores, which in turn will allow users to maintain privacy while shopping – transactions will be carried out using a virtual number. Therefore, there is a real chance that if the store is hacked, our card number will remain safe – only cybercriminals will have access to the virtual card.
Virtual card numbers must be available first For Chrome and Android users in the US.
Anonymity in the search engine
At its annual developer conference, Google also announced Changes in the Internet search engineIt is the undisputed leader of this type of service in the world.
The giant has long been accused of collecting a lot of data about users using the search engine – and for this, according to the company, the mechanism was introduced protected computingThis allows people using the Google search engine to anonymize their online activity and thus reduce their digital footprint.
Protected computing is a mechanism that is changing the way Google collects and processes personal data. In practice, it is about reducing the amount of data that allows the identification of certain people, as well as the use of methods of anonymizing users. It also comes with files Final encryptionWhich means that even Google won’t be able to see the sensitive data being processed by the search engine if the user decides to hide their identity and activity.
